(The First Ever) Finish-The-Sentence Friday

Let's try something new. Finish the following sentence: "If I could travel through time and give my sixteen-year-old self some advice, it would be…"

I'll go first: "...You don't have to feign cluelessness to get people to like you."

Don't be so naive, stupid. And don't let teenage boys act like raging-hormone teenage boys around you--it's not worth it. Get a backbone.

It will get worse before it gets better, but you'll make it through. Life will look a lot brighter in a couple of years.

Diesel is not a toy, large stacks of sticks are flammable, and you're not superman, so put that cattail down!

Stop projecting your sexual frustration onto everyone else, and for God's sake stop trying to make everyone feel guilty for masturbating.

[I've got a lot of advice for that little 16 year old zealot, but I'll stop here before I embarrass myself even more. This is too much fun.]

and-don't feel guilty for not throwing your music on the fire! stop feeling guilty for your questions!

(i love this idea, by the way)

I know you're scared and in pain, but it's not cancer. You'll live. And you don't have to be perfect. (Still working on that one)

When you do go to college, get your teaching certificate. Put everything that you write in a lockbox and keep it with you. And most importantly...KEEP THAT RING ON YOUR FINGER!!!!

16 Yr Old Advice
Reply #13 on : Mon June 23, 2008, 15:33:52
Since I lost a 16 year old daughter in a car crash in 2001, this one hits home:

- Live Ready!
- Laugh a lot! Especially with Family!
- Cherish each moment!
- Don't do things that will leave you scarred, hurting, and in pain - you know instinctively in your Spirit what is right or wrong. Listen to the Spirit.
- Don't drink and drive!
